Elementary School Students Visit Farm to See and Experience Space Tomatoes
In mid-September, fifth graders from Kyowa Elementary School in Sagamihara City came to our Development Department's Sagamihara Farm for a planting experience.
IT ALL STARTED WHEN A TEACHER WHO WAS INTERESTED IN "SPACE TOMATOES" APPROACHED US AT AN EVENT HELD AT JAXA'S SAGAMIHARA CAMPUS.
The students planted mini-tomato seedlings in the coral medium, and the Q&A session about "space tomatoes" that followed was a never-ending question-and-answer session.
It was an enjoyable hour and a half with very enthusiastic, energetic and lively students and teachers.
It was the first time for our company to hold such an event and it was a very valuable time for us.
I hope it will give you a chance to feel something about mini-tomatoes, about agriculture, about space tomatoes, and about your hometown.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity!
