Ai-Rich Farming Case Study: Chubu Agri Co., Ltd - Aiming for Stable Supply of Unique Products and Customer Satisfaction...

"Barrow HD believes that "supermarket customers are now divided between 'price' and 'value-added,' and while there are customers who place importance on added value, there are more customers who focus on price.

For Barrow HD, which was originally founded as Shufu's("housewife's shop,") Store Co., Ltd., the basic stance is to focus on price and not on cheap or bad products, and this is where Chubu Agri Products, a group company, comes in.

In view of the stabilization of Frutica production, part of the plant was recently enlarged, and Aiko production was started last year. The first shipment started in the fall.
AI and sensors are being installed in the new facility in cooperation with Plant Life Systems. to operate more efficiently and improve both quantity and quality per tsubo.

Background to the introduction.

In 2013 we established an agricultural production corporation, specializing in tomato production with facility-based cultivation. The facility covers an area of over 2 hectares.

This project was created to promote not only the "stable supply" of tomatoes, but also the "branding" of tomatoes by growing them ourselves using hydroponic technology instead of buying them from the market.
This made it possible to provide customers with high value-added products at stable prices. To further expand the business, PLS's Ai-Rich cultivation method was introduced in 2018. Unlike traditional cultivation methods, the Ai-Rich method does not overload the tomatoes, making them very vigorous and increasing the quantity. We started introducing this method because it is a cultivation method that does not overload the tomatoes, unlike conventional cultivation.

We are now on our third crop and the plants continue to be vigorous and the tomatoes are growing more actively than in other cultivations.

Benefits and developments of the introduction.

Compared to conventional farming, production has increased in a short period of time. At the height of the harvest season, harvesting operations were not completed in time and we are satisfied with the results.

In addition, disease resistance has increased due to the good growth performance of the trees, the number of sprays of pesticides has decreased, and labor has decreased. Furthermore, since the disease can be controlled by using bio-based materials instead of conventional pesticides, we are aiming to further increase the added value in terms of certification as an "organic farmer".
This term, we will try to grow new varieties again and complete planting in September to encourage the provision of higher value-added products.
We want to improve cultivation techniques so that we can offer fresher products at stable prices to the local population.
We will continue to improve our cultivation techniques so that we can provide local people with fresher crops at stable prices.
